Tips on Changing Your Bathroom Decor

There is no better way to spruce up your bathroom than with bathroom décor. There are many different types of décor so it’s easy to find just what you’re looking for in terms of style, theme and affordability. It is best to set your budget beforehand so that you can determine whether you plan to buy all new décor for your bathroom in one purchase, or if you would rather buy a few new things at different times. Also choose a theme for your bathroom so it is easier to settle on your décor. For example, you can choose a theme that goes along with a particular color scheme, beach or tropical location, or something set on a historic era.

Some basic types of bathroom accessories include mirrors and lighting. You can choose a large mirror that goes over your sinks and counter or opt for a small mirror that sits just over the sink. Also make sure that the mirror you choose has adequate lighting. For example, you can place the lighting directly over the bathroom-decormirror as well as on the sides of the mirror. You can also choose to have ceiling lighting, especially over the toilet area. If possible, choose a mirror that goes along with your décor, such as a traditional oval shaped mirror lined in gold, or a contemporary mirror that has clean, straight edges. The lighting should also match, choosing lighting covers and intensities that fit with your theme.

Another type of décor you should consider is the faucets you place throughout your bathroom. Chrome and nickel faucets are durable and well suited for a modern bathroom, while brass fixtures are perfect for a traditional themed bathroom. To keep everything evenly matched, replace your towel bar holders and toilet paper holders with new ones that match your faucets.

To complete your bathroom décor, you will need to fill it in with accessories that complement your bathroom’s theme. Consider paintings or art work that you can purchase from discount stores, as well as a new shower curtain. Opt for a plant that’s easy to take care of, such as a bamboo or bonsai plant, to bring in an element of nature. Choose a bathroom rug to avoid slips and falls, especially in front of the toilet or sink. Place matching towels on a towel rack or holder, as well as corresponding soap dishes, soap dispensers, lotion dispensers and toothbrush holders.

Once you have completed your bathroom, chances are, everyone in the home will be fighting to use it! Fortunately, this is one room in the home that’s easy to work with and affordable, especially when making small changes regarding the bathroom décor. Over time, this heavily used room will need a pick-me-up, which is why it is beneficial to add new accessories throughout the years.
